We’re Chelsea and John. We met almost 20 years ago while working at a wild Vancouver, Canada rock bar. Now we’ve been married for 17 years. Since then, we’ve been inseparable in our shared passion for exploring new places, eating incredible food, savoring local drinks, cheering on our favorite sports, and creating unforgettable memories together. John’s a fearless eater, while I’m a pescatarian who loves eating healthy, but still treats myself. I formally worked in cosmetics sales, and John specializes in the collision repair industry. Our careers have taken us to cities across North America, and John’s work even took him to China. These are experiences that have sparked a genuine love for discovering new places, cultures, and ways of life.

After being inspired by the book “The 4-Hour Work Week, we decided to change our life. About two years ago, we got visas to live in Mexico, sold our home and most of our belongings. We traveled through Spain, Portugal, and France for 42 unforgettable days. After returning to Canada we packed up our car and set off on a road trip through the U.S., eventually arriving and living in La Paz, Baja California Sur. We called it “pre-tired” (a play on retirement, as we are too young and not rich enough to retire yet). We spent a year living by the sea, embracing a slower pace of life and falling in love with the local culture. We live as modern nomads, always chasing the next adventure. Whether it’s sharing street tacos for lunch so we can indulge in a Michelin-star dinner later, or seeking out hidden local spots, we try to travel with intention. While we’ll occasionally check out a well-known landmark, we’re far more drawn to the character and charm of lesser-known neighborhoods, unique local spots, and experiences that offer a true sense of place.

We’re here to share honest stories, the things we’ve learned the hard way, and the small wins that made all the difference for our travels.
